There is no fee for the initial orthodontic examination. However, there
is a fee for Temporomandibular Joint examinations and diagnostic records.
STEP 1: Diagnostic Records Appointment
The second visit to our office will be the diagnostic records appointment.
At this time, digital X-rays and photographs, impressions of the mouth and
other measurements will be made. This usually takes about one hour.
When all the diagnostic data is assembled, Dr. Elliott will do a thorough diagnosis and treatment plan. This will be presented to you at the next appointment, the consultation, which is usually two weeks later.
STEP 2: Consultation Appointment
This appointment is to better inform you of the diagnosis, provide you with treatment options, patient’s responsibilities and finalize financial planning. When the treatment is for a minor we ask that, if possible, both parents attend the consultation. This is an extremely important appointment. At this time we want to be sure you are informed of the following:
- What the problem is and the severity and limitations
- What we will do to help you correct your problem
- What you have to do to correct your problem
- Cooperation level required
- Appliances that we will utilize
- Treatment time estimate
Once we have explained what the problem is and the treatment plan is selected, we will be ready for you to start treatment. Only full cooperation from the patient allows the idealized goals set by Dr. Elliott to be achieved in the shortest time possible. This appointment usually takes about an hour.
STEP 3: Placement of Braces or Appliance
For full braces, this is approximately a 1½ to 2½ hour appointment. When possible all the appliances are placed at the same appointment.
